Bookstore Return Policy
Return privileges vary according to merchandise category.
All returns require an original register receipt or invoice (from web orders.)
Credit and/or debit cards must be physically present for all return or refund transactions inside the store.
Merchandise Categories:
- General merchandise (Apparel, gifts, supplies) may be returned within 14 business days with receipt.
- Tradebooks may be returned within 14 business days with receipt.
- Non-returnable items: Electronics, calculators, sale & clearance items;
opened access codes, unsealed software, cd-roms and tapes.
Textbooks return privileges vary by semester (see table below).
General Textbook Return Policy
- Purchase Made: Returns accepted w/original receipt
- General Policy: 3 Business days from date of purchase
- Fall and spring semesters: First 7 business days of semester *
- May Term/Summer sessions: 3 Business days after the class start date
- Finals week: No return privileges
All NEW textbooks must be unmarked and in saleable, like-new condition and contain all components
to qualify for a refund.
Rentals done through our Affiliate Program with Follett
To check your account or for more information, go to:

Within 21 days, Follett rentals may be returned to the Bookstore for a refund.
For refunds after 21 days, contact Follett directly at 888-398-1977.
Regular (non-refund) rental returns may be done at the returns counter in the Bookstore.
*Textbook Refunds after the first 7 (Seven) business days of the Fall and Spring semester
The University Bookstore will review withdrawals and extenuating circumstances
on a case-by-case basis in accordance with the following policy;

No full refunds will be granted after the last day of the fifth week of the semester.
(Exception: See General Textbook Return Policy) Customers are then eligible to sell their books back to the Bookstore.
Buyback prices will vary throughout the semester, but the customer will receive the best market price
for their books during our store buyback period at the end of the semester.

** For purposes of these procedures, withdrawal is defined as students
who give official notification of their withdrawal to the University after a semester/session begins.
(This does not apply for withdrawals associated with Military duty)

Our Location:
The University Bookstore is located on the bottom level of the Memorial Union on the University of Maine campus in Orono, Maine.
Visitor parking is located in the large parking lot outside of the Collins Center for the Arts (CCA) or the lot behind the Observatory.
How to get here:
By Car:
Take U.S. Interstate 95 to exits 191 or 193. Follow the street signs to the University of Maine campus.
Exit 191: Follow Kelly Road to the intersection with Main Street, then bear left at the traffic light.
Follow Main Street to the intersection of College Avenue and Park Street.
Continue straight on Park Street until you see the University of Maine sign on the left.
Turn onto Rangeley Road here and follow it to the large parking lot outside of the Collins Center for the Arts (CCA) for parking.
Exit 193: Follow Stillwater Avenue to the intersection with College Avenue, then turn right.
Follow College Avenue until you pass the Alfond Sports Arena on the left, then turn onto Long Road directly beyond the arena.
Follow Long Road to the Memorial Gym, then follow the road to the right.
Approaching the UMaine Mall, bear left on the road and continue on Long Road until you reach the intersection at Flagstaff Road.
Follow Flagstaff Road until you see the large parking lot outside of the Collins Center for the Arts (CCA) for parking.
By Plane: Bangor International Airport is located 12 miles south of the University of Maine campus. This is located off exit 184
on U.S. Interstate 95.
By Bus: The city of Bangor is served by Concord Trailways; from Bangor, local bus service (the BAT) is available for
transportation to the University of Maine campus.
